When creating appointment rules it is possible to add higher priority appointment rules that will overlay other appointment rules for that user. For example, a clinician may have an appointment rule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with appointment type Routine Consult at 30 minute duration. You can add a new rule and set the priority to a number higher than the original rule (e.g. from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the clinician’s appointment type is for Follow-up appointments only).
Steps
1. In EMR, click Maintain then Appointment -> Rules
2. Right click on the Clinician from the Appointment Rules list and click New Personal Appointment Rule
Note: If the clinician is not listed, click the icon and then New Personal Appointment Rule you can search for the clinician and add a new rule at this time.
3. Update the New Appointment Rule Details, be sure to change the Priority to a number higher than the other Appointment Rules.
- Indicate in the free-text Reason field the message you wish to show up in the schedule
4. If done correctly, when you view the Appointments Schedule you will see the changes to the clinicians schedule:
