Background
CareConnect is British Columbia's secure, view-only Electronic Health Record (EHR) solution. It offers healthcare providers access to an integrated, provincial view of patient-centric information that is available 24/7 to support the delivery of patient care. Six different Health Authorities across the province utilize CareConnect to support a better flow of information across the care continuum.
Request Access to CareConnect
To request access at VCH and PHC or to update your existing account, please complete and submit a request with the Enrolment Form (must be on Health Authority network).
You will need the following information for the person who requires CareConnect access:
- Active Network Account
- Employee ID
- Professional College / Association ID (if applicable)
- Manager’s Contact Information (Name, Email, Phone Number)
- Residency / Fellowship Start & End Date (if applicable)
CareConnect Icon on Profile EMR
Once you have received approval/access, the CareConnect icon on Profile EMR will work for you.
The CareConnect icon on Profile EMR is above the yellow bar.
- Open a client's Medical Record
- Click on the CareConnect icon
- Profile EMR supplies CareConnect with the client's unique identifier (bypassing Client Search)
- Click Accept on the Confirmation of Clinical Relationship window
VCH Profile EMR Patient Summary Report
At this time, Profile EMR only sends information to CareConnect that is contained within the Patient Summary Report. To view, click on the Community Documents segment and under Summaries, select the VCH Profile EMR Patient Summary Report to open the PDF.
The Patient Summary Report contains several sections:
- Patient Demographics

Care Team
Displays all Active care team roles. - Metal Health Act Extended Leave
- Clinic/Team Contacts in past year
Displays all POSes where the client had an encounter in the past year. -
Alerts
Displays only Active alerts that are shared with PARIS. - Allergies
- Next of Kin
- Active Medical Problems
- Inactive Medical Problems
- Social/Risk Problems
- Previous Procedures
- Recent Measures
Profile EMR MHSU Data Viewable on CareConnect
As of November 2024, Profile EMR data from Vancouver Community Adult MHSU Teams was made viewable on CareConnect. This project aimed to improve client safety and clinical care by securely transmitting MHSU clinical data to CareConnect, making this data easily accessible for programs providing after hours care, on evenings and weekends.
You can view the following Profile EMR information on CareConnect under “Community Documents”, Source System: VCHA Intrahealth:

- Termination Summary/Final Note v2
- MH & SU Screener (MHSU)

Profile EMR Primary Care Data Viewable in CareConnect
As of July 2026, VCH Primary Care Encounter notes and select forms documented in Profile EMR are now available in CareConnect.

- Pender Community Health Centre (historical notes prior to Groundspring go-live)
- Raven Song Primary Care (Blue, Green, Yellow)

How to Access in CareConnect
To view this documentation in CareConnect:
- Navigate to Community Documents
- Filter by Source System (VCHA Intrahealth) or Team/Services
Troubleshooting
1. If you are unable to access CareConnect through Profile EMR, check if any of your colleagues are having the same issues.
- If your colleagues are having the same issues, email EMR Help.
- If your colleagues are not having the same issues, continue to step #2.
2. Check if you can access CareConnect through Citrix Portal.
- If you are successful in accessing through Citrix Portal as a workaround, continue to step #4.
- If you are unsuccessful in accessing through Citrix Portal, continue to step #3.
3. Check if you can access CareConnect website (https://careconnect.healthbc.org) from your internet browser like Chrome.
- If you are successful in accessing through the CareConnect website, continue to step #4.
- If you are unsuccessful in accessing through Citrix Portal, continue to below steps.
4. Check if you can access CareConnect through Profile EMR on a colleague's workstation.
- If you are successful using a colleague's workstation, contact Service Desk outlining the troubleshooting steps that you have taken.
- If you are unsuccessful using a colleague's workstation, email EMR Help outlining the troubleshooting steps that you have taken.
